Umesh has a bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering and a master’s in Process Engineering and Energy Technology. He has experience in handling research programs in the environment, energy, water, and landscape management. He specializes in the field of energy efficiency, energy storage, renewable energy, and techno-commercial software for simulation. He is currently working on a sustainable energy transition in Tamil Nadu, which includes the following: research on rationalizing the electricity tariffs in the state of Tamil Nadu, analyzing the techno-commercial viability of solar intervention with storage, tracking the implementation of Distributed Renewable Energy Generation (DREG), and exploring opportunities to establish a Time of Use (ToU) tariffs, analyzing the electrical load profile of the state.
