WHAT IS Auroville Consulting
Auroville Consulting (AVC) is a unit of the non-profit organisation, Auroville Foundation. It means any profits generated by the Unit are re-deployed in the Unit or its parent organization (Auroville Foundation) and not paid to any individual or any external entity. The fundamental values for the basis of work and collaboration at Auroville Consulting are: equality, good will, passion and commitment. Every team member fully subscribes and demonstrates these values at all times.

Opportunities
We are seeking an Energy Analyst with expertise in distributed generation. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience in techno-commercial simulations using open-source modelling tools such as PyPSA, along with the ability to derive strategic insights that inform both project development and policy decisions.
Responsibilities include:
Qualifications: Candidates should have a minimum of 3 years of experience in energy systems modelling, distributed energy analysis, or energy policy research. Strong proficiency in Python is required. A solid understanding of renewable energy systems, distributed generation technologies, and energy policy frameworks is essential. Excellent analytical, communication, and writing skills are key to success in this role.

We are looking for a Technical Lead to focus on improving energy efficiency in the building sector, updating procurement and construction specifications, supporting the implementation of EcoNiwas Samhita, promoting passive cooling and thermal comfort, and assisting private real estate developers in adopting sustainable practices.
Responsibilities entail:
The candidate should have a minimum of 5+ years of experience in energy-efficient building design, implementation of building codes and standards, or related fields. Demonstrated expertise in engaging with government departments, working on policy development, and implementing building energy efficiency initiatives. Advanced proficiency in written and spoken English and fluency in Tamil. This is a full-time position, the person will need to work out of our Chennai or Auroville office. We are looking for a renewable energy policy analyst with knowledge in the Indian power sector and a strong background in policy and legal frameworks.
Responsibilities entail:
Research and monitor legislative, regulatory and policy trends relevant to the renewable energy sector.
Analyse complex technical and socio-economic problems.
Research and design of novel business and implementation models in particular for distributed renewable energy systems.
Undertake and oversee quantitative and/or qualitative data collection and analysis using different research tools.
Prepare clearly written academic publications, analytical reports, and other forms of dissemination of research.
Correspond with stakeholders, present policy and regulatory alternative and create higher public awareness
Mentor and assist staff and early-stage researchers in the organization
The candidate should have a minimum of 3 years’ experience in this domain.

We are seeking an Energy System Modeller with expertise in the power sector, focusing on renewable energy integration, capacity expansion modelling, and grid flexibility assessments. Candidates with proficiency in Python and experience with PyPSA are highly preferred.
Responsibilities include:
Conduct advanced simulations of power grids to evaluate renewable energy integration and grid stability.
Develop and apply capacity expansion models to support long-term planning.
Assess grid flexibility needs and design solutions for optimizing renewable energy uptake.
Analyze complex technical and socio-economic challenges related to energy systems.
Research, develop, and implement innovative frameworks for renewable energy deployment.
Perform quantitative data analysis using advanced computational tools and models.
Prepare academic publications, analytical reports, and other dissemination materials.
Engage with stakeholders to present technical solutions and create awareness about energy system innovations.
Mentor and support early-career professionals in energy modeling and research.
Qualifications:
Candidates should have a minimum of 3 years of experience in energy system modelling or related fields, strong proficiency in Python with familiarity in PyPSA as an advantage, and a solid understanding of renewable energy technologies, power systems, and policy frameworks. Additionally, excellent analytical, communication, and teamwork skills are essential.
