Auroville Consulting (AVC) is a unit of the non-profit organisation, Auroville Foundation. It means any profits generated by the Unit are re-deployed in the Unit or its parent organization (Auroville Foundation) and not paid to any individual or any external entity. DEPUTY PROJECT MANAGER – ENGINEERING AND STAKEHOLDER ENGAGEMENT

We are looking for a Building Energy Expert to support the implementation of building energy efficiency initiatives. The role involves assisting the Technical Lead in updating procurement and construction specifications, implementing EcoNiwas Samhita, promoting passive cooling and thermal comfort, and engaging with private sector developers.

 

Responsibilities entail:

  • Project Management and Reporting

The candidate should have a minimum of 5+ years of experience in engineering, project management, or sustainable development, with a focus on building energy efficiency or urban planning. Familiarity with sustainable cooling technologies, thermal comfort standards, and green building practices. Working knowledge of Tamil and English (written and spoken). GHG Emissions Analyst

Overview:

We are seeking a GHG Emissions Analyst to join our Climate Change and Sustainability team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for conducting detailed research and analysis of greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions for both public and private sector clients, with a focus on data accuracy, effective communication, and actionable insights.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct quantitative analysis of GHG emissions using Excel-based tools and models.
  • Visualize data to effectively communicate emissions trends and reduction opportunities to stakeholders.
  • Draft clear, concise, and technically sound reports to support sustainability disclosures, inventories, and policy recommendations.
  • Design and deliver training sessions on GHG emissions accounting, decarbonization strategies, and relevant policy frameworks for government officials and industry professionals.
  • Conduct research on carbon markets and provide strategic guidance to organizations on setting up eligible carbon offset projects or purchasing credits to meet climate targets.

Desirable Skills & Qualifications:

  • Strong proficiency in Excel for data analysis and visualization.
  • Background in environmental science, sustainability, climate studies, or related fields.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Familiarity with national and international GHG accounting frameworks (e.g., IPCC, GHG Protocol) is an asset.
  • Interest in contributing to policy dialogue and awareness initiatives around climate action.

ENERGY & COOLING SOLUTIONS LIAISON

We are seeking an Energy & Cooling Solutions Liaison to embed within the Tamil Nadu Housing Department. This role is crucial for advancing energy efficiency and passive cooling strategies in affordable housing under the India Cooling Action Plan (ICAP).

Key Responsibilities:

  • Act as the primary liaison and technical resource within the Tamil Nadu Housing Department, offering guidance and support on energy efficiency and passive cooling solutions.
  • Drive the mainstreaming of passive cooling strategies, working with design and construction teams to integrate them into public housing projects.
  • Develop and deliver capacity-building programs for government staff, engineers, and field personnel in both English and Tamil.
  • Map and monitor housing projects for energy efficiency integration, tracking progress and outcomes.
  • Coordinate with subject matter experts and contribute to policy dialogues to inform regulatory updates.

Qualifications:

  • 2-4 years of relevant experience in sustainable building design, energy efficiency, or climate-responsive architecture.
  • A Bachelor’s degree in Architecture, Building Sciences, Civil/Environmental Engineering, or a related field is required, with a Master’s preferred.
  • Experience working with government departments or urban housing programs is highly desirable.
  • A strong understanding of passive design strategies and excellent communication skills are essential.
  • Fluency in English is required as well as working knowledge of Tamil.

Work Mode:

This is a full-time position based in Chennai, working within the Tamil Nadu Housing Department. ENERGY ANALYST – DISTRIBUTED GENERATION

We are seeking an Energy Analyst with expertise in distributed generation. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience in techno-commercial simulations using open-source modelling tools such as PyPSA, along with the ability to derive strategic insights that inform both project development and policy decisions.

Responsibilities include:

  • Develop and apply technical and economic models for distributed energy systems, including solar PV, battery storage, and hybrid configurations.
  • Analyze relevant policies, regulatory frameworks, and incentive structures for distributed energy and renewable energy adoption.
  • Translate modelling outcomes into clear, actionable recommendations for policymakers, investors, and practitioners.
  • Prepare high-quality reports, policy briefs, and stakeholder presentations.
  • Collaborate with internal and external teams on research, strategy, and project implementation related to distributed energy systems.
  • Engage with stakeholders from government, industry, and civil society to share insights and support awareness-building.
  • Mentor early-career professionals in energy modelling, analysis, and policy research.

Qualifications: Candidates should have a minimum of 3 years of experience in energy systems modelling, distributed energy analysis, or energy policy research. Strong proficiency in Python is required. A solid understanding of renewable energy systems, distributed generation technologies, and energy policy frameworks is essential. RENEWABLE ENERGY POLICY ANALYST

We are looking for a renewable energy policy analyst with knowledge in the Indian power sector and a strong background in policy and legal frameworks.

Responsibilities entail: 

  • Research and monitor legislative, regulatory and policy trends relevant to the renewable energy sector. 

  • Analyse complex technical and socio-economic problems. 

  • Research and design of novel business and implementation models in particular for distributed renewable energy systems.

  • Undertake and oversee quantitative and/or qualitative data collection  and analysis using different research tools.

  • Prepare clearly written academic publications, analytical reports, and other forms of dissemination of research.

  • Correspond with stakeholders, present policy and regulatory alternative and create higher public awareness

ENERGY SYSTEM MODELLER – POWER GRID SIMULATIONS AND RENEWABLE ENERGY INTEGRATION

We are seeking an Energy System Modeller with expertise in the power sector, focusing on renewable energy integration, capacity expansion modelling, and grid flexibility assessments. Candidates with proficiency in Python and experience with PyPSA are highly preferred.

Responsibilities include:

  • Conduct advanced simulations of power grids to evaluate renewable energy integration and grid stability.

Are you a creative and self-motivated individual with a passion for digital storytelling?Auroville Consulting is looking for a Digital Content Creator to join our team for at least 6 months. You’ll be instrumental in bringing our brand and projects to life through engaging visuals and compelling narratives across various digital platforms.

Daily Tasks:

  • Generate and create visually appealing media using tools like Canva.
  • Edit and enhance short-form video content (reels) for social media.
  • Craft and improve captions for all digital content to maximize engagement.
  • Conduct interviews with internal teams and our partners within Auroville, documenting their stories.
  • Write engaging blogs and articles about Auroville units and their sustainable practices.
  • Schedule and manage content on multiple social media platforms.

Prerequisites:

  • Personal Attributes: Good time management, ability to work on multiple projects, self-starter, responsible, eagerness, willingness to learn, eye for detail, and meticulousness.
  • Language Skills: Proficient in English (written and spoken).
  • Preferred Qualifications: at least a Bachelor’s degree or 6 months experience in a similar field.

Auroville Consulting seeking a proactive and strategical Outreach & Communications Enthusiast for at least a 6 months engagement. This role is perfect for someone eager to connect with people, build relationships, and drive projects forward. You will play a crucial part in expanding our network and promoting our sustainable initiatives.

Daily Tasks:

  • Research and identify new contact opportunities for partnerships and collaborations.
  • Initiate communication through email and phone calls with various individuals and departments to advance ongoing projects.
    Prepare and manage outreach lists for targeted WhatsApp paid campaigns.
  • Develop compelling copywriting for outreach emails to effectively communicate our mission and projects.
  • Contribute to project deadlines.

Prerequisites:

  • Personal Attributes: Good time management, ability to work on multiple projects, self-starter, responsibility, eagerness, willingness to learn, good communication and interpersonal skills, strategic thinking and ability to work towards deadlines.
